Basic Calabaceado Steps Workshop

The workshop “Basic Calabaceado Steps” arrives at the Experimental Forum of CEART Ensenada, offering young people and adults an introduction to Baja California’s iconic regional dance. Led by Lic. Claudia Zárate, this class is designed for beginners ages 12 and up, providing a dynamic introduction to the fundamentals of calabaceado—an energetic, rhythmic style deeply rooted in northern Mexican culture.

Across the sessions on November 24 and 26, and December 1, 2025, participants will learn essential steps, movement techniques, and the cultural background that gives life to this traditional dance. All in a guided, welcoming environment perfect for those starting from scratch.
